What is Stroke Refinement?
This class is designed to strengthen freestyle and backstroke form while increasing endurance
Elementary backstroke and breaststroke
The teacher to student ratio in this class is 1:6. Class lengths are 30 min, 45 min, or 1 hour.
The Focus of this Class
Proper rhythmic breathing and arm movements for freestyle
Effective arm pulls and kick for freestyle and backstroke
Completing multiple laps of these strokes while maintaining stroke integrity
Speed and fluidity while completing multiple laps
Teaching elementary backstroke and breaststroke by breaking down the components of these strokes
Diving and proper water entry
As in all of our classes, safety skills will also be practiced
(Swimming without goggles, treading water, pop ups, introduction to diving, deep water retrieval, etc.)
Requirements (seahorse achievement level)
Child must be able to do freestyle with proper side breathing for 30 feet (half a lap).
Child must also be able to swim backstroke for 30 feet (half a lap).
child must be able to tread water for 2 minutes.
Child must be comfortable swimming in deep water.
